Brown Mackie College - Grad Earns Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician Scholarship
Marrita Porter, who in 2015 earned an Associate of Applied Science in Biomedical Equipment Technology from a Brown Mackie College – Louisville, was selected by the Kentucky Association for Medical Instrumentation (KAMI) to receive a Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) scholarship. Scholarship awardees must demonstrate excellence in theoretical as well as practical knowledge of the principles of biomedical equipment technology.
Porter is currently a Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) for Norton Healthcare Clinical Engineering. She volunteers for Supplies Over Seas (SOS), a Louisville, Kentucky-based nonprofit organization that meets critical health care needs in medically impoverished communities around the world by collecting and distributing surplus medical supplies and equipment.
