Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Joins Greenville Team, 2016

After earning an undergraduate degree from University of South Carolina, Sade Glover wanted to go back to school to enter the field of healthcare as an occupational therapy assistant. After researching, she selected Brown Mackie College – Greenville.

“I could tell Brown Mackie College - Greenville was the right choice for me during my initial interview. The advisor was amazing. She made sure I had all the information I needed to get accepted into the program,” Sade says. In 2016, she graduated Cum Laude, earning an Occupational Therapy Assistant Associate of Applied Science degree. She now enjoys her new professional career.

Sade passed the credentialing exam to become a certified occupational therapy assistant, and joined the staff of Stepping Stones Therapy & In-Home Care in Lugoff, South Carolina. She spends her days traveling to the homes of clients to administer treatment.

“Each day I visit scheduled clients and make sure my treatment sessions are based on the needs of each child as we work toward achieving the charted goals,” says Sade. “I document the progress and discuss recommendations to continue progression with the parents. It is important that I manage my time wisely so that each client can get the most out of the treatment sessions.”

This career is flexible and challenging. “I enjoy helping clients get back to living their daily lives. Each day is filled with different opportunities and excitement. Knowing they are getting better every day is a great feeling,” Sade says. “I use the theories and various interventions I learned in school and apply them every day.” She enjoys the work so much that she plans to continue her education to become an occupational therapist.

In her spare time, Sade serves as vice president of the youth organization at her church.

He took his goal of working in the legal field to Brown Mackie College - Atlanta, and now he is happily building his professional career as a paralegal. Since graduating in 2011 with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Paralegal Studies, Gregory has worked for a number of law firms, both big and small.

Today, he has settled into the Khoshnood Law Firm PC, a mid-size firm in Atlanta, Georgia, that specializes in bankruptcy cases. As an intake paralegal, Gregory supports up to four lawyers simultaneously, meeting with clients to complete petitions and agreements, explaining chapter 7 bankruptcy formalities and section 341 fiscal matters to clients, and handling daily client support.

“I have a complete understanding of accounting and budgeting, and am well informed on credit ratings, credit scores, and debt management,” Gregory says. “I have the ability to conduct analysis of moderate bankruptcy situations and advise attorneys accordingly.”

Gregory thrives in the fast-paced, team oriented environment. “I maintain a professional demeanor and keep my focus on client service. My critical thinking skills are important to anticipate and initiate tasks, and propose solutions to issues and challenges,” he says. He loves working with attorneys and interacting with clients, saying, “Each one has a different story, and each one develops into a unique relationship. The legal profession demands long hours. “One of my biggest challenges is working late,” says Gregory, “…sometimes more than 12 hours a day.” Somehow, he finds time to complete his work and spend time with his family. In addition, he has become an author. “I have written two books that are out now, and I am working on future projects for the service of the public,” says Gregory.
