Christie Hodges now lives the life she had dreamed about. Her longing for a professional career led her to Brown Mackie College ― Quad Cities. “They were very supportive; like a second family to me,” she says. The supportive environment made it easy to stay focused. “Give your whole dedication to college. Make it count,” says Christie.

In 2014, Christie graduated from Brown Mackie College ― Quad Cities, earning an Associate of Applied Science degree in Health Care Administration. It wasn’t long before she began her new career at Audiology Consultants in Davenport, Iowa.

As the receptionist at the office, Christie checks patients in and out, recording demographic and insurance information. What does she most enjoy? “The one-on-one with the patients of course,” she says. “They inspire me to do my best and give them my all.”

Christie is proud of maintaining her position and creating a new lifestyle for her family. “I have to say Brown Mackie ― Quad Cities changed my life. My education helped me step up as a professional.  I enjoyed the one-on-one help and the hands-on experience during my internship,” she says.

Jesse Leuck

Human Resources Generalist at Home Care Facility

Jesse Leuck was confident in his enrollment at Brown Mackie College ― Quad Cities. “I believe it was the right college for me,” he says. “Even during the admissions process, there was a family aspect about it. It was easy to make a commitment.”

Throughout his academic program, Jesse dedicated himself to the philosophy he developed: Be prepared, stay focused, and stay confident. “I enjoyed working with such a diverse group of students and instructors,” he says. Also, he appreciated the support of his school family when a medical diagnosis obstructed his path.  “The staff and faculty came together to help me through my time of need,” says Jesse.

Jesse graduated from Brown Mackie College ― Quad Cities in 2014, earning an Associate of Applied Science degree in Business Management. He now works as a human resources generalist at Accurate Home Care in Moline, Illinois. This position sets him up as the face of the company for the clients they serve and the nurses who complete the scheduled rounds.

“It’s my responsibility to ensure that client needs are met through management of nursing and personal care staff,” Jesse says. “I manage field employees in assigned territories from the hiring process through their entire employment at Accurate Home Care. I enjoy being in a position of respect, honor and management. I also enjoy helping clients live a normal life with the help of my team of great nurses.” 

Jesse finds the work fulfilling as he creates schedules and manages special requests from clients. He maintains employee records and ensures the service complies with state guidelines in all areas. He says his education at Brown Mackie College ― Quad Cities prepared him well for his new life.

“They gave me real insight into what my workload and workplace would look like in the job market today,” he says. “I learned how to set goals in my everyday life that have helped me achieve my position and maintain the workload at Accurate Home Care.”

Jesse received the Eagle award from Brown Mackie College ― Quad Cities for his dedication to coursework, and was invited to speak at the graduation ceremony.  On the job, he recently received the Most Positive award.

“I can see big things in my future,” says Jesse. “Everything I have done is helping me to be a well-rounded employee in business and human resources. I would like to return to college to complete a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. After that, I would love to open my own restaurant.”
