Head Coach
Tyler Gunelson

Gunelson played at Brown Mackie College — Salina from 2005-2007, and was named a two-time All-Region VI pitcher. He transferred to Newman University and played from 2007-2009, earning Heartland Conference Honorable Mention in 2009. Gunelson graduated with a B.A. in Marketing.

Gunelson began his coaching career at Valley Center High School in Valley Center, KS in 2009-2010 as the pitching coach. Valley Center High School placed 4th in the state tournament. While at Valley Center, Gunelson coached his first Major League Baseball draft pick.

After Valley Center, Gunelson went on to coach at Friends University from 2010-2012. While at Friends, Gunelson coached a summer college team called the Valley Center Diamond Dawgs. While with the Diamond Dawgs, the team was back-to-back NBC World Series qualifiers, placing as high as 4th in 2011. Gunelson has had his coaching hand in four Major League Baseball draft picks as well as numerous professional contract signees.

Gunelson holds a Masters of Science degree from Emporia State University in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation.

Assistant Coach
Michael Billinger

Billinger attended Brown Mackie College — Salina in 2007 and 2008, earning two-time All-Region VI honors both years as a first baseman. The Lions won the Region VI baseball championship in 2008.

Billinger was a student assistant at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kan. in 2008 and 2009. He also coached the Hays Legion baseball program from 2008-2011.
