Brown Mackie College - Micigan City Offers New Early Childhood Education Program

(Michigan City, Ind. - March 5, 2007) Brown Mackie College - Michigan City has received approval to offer an Associate of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education.

The Early Childhood Education degree program is a two-year program and requires 96 quarter credit hours. It is designed to provide students with the necessary skills to obtain entry-level employment in the field of early childhood education. Graduate employment opportunities include: pre-school/nursery schools, before and after school care, early childhood development centers, group and family child care homes, child care resource and referral organizations, and early childhood special education programs.

The curriculum includes classes in child growth and development, health, safety and nutrition, language arts, child guidance and acceptance, and knowledge on how to interact with children that have special needs. In addition, students will take general education courses that will assist in professional development and the ability to assume leadership roles.
