Brown Mackie College Merrillville Launches New Associate of Applied Science Degree Program in Occupational Therapy Assistant

(Merrillville, IN - May 31, 2008) Brown Mackie College - Merrillville is now offering an Associate of Applied Science degree program in Occupational Therapy Assistant.
The new program provides students with the opportunity to learn principles and knowledge, skills, practice and professionalism necessary to obtain an entry-level position as an occupational therapy assistant. The objective of the program is to train the student to administer occupational therapy treatments, under the direction of an occupational therapist, to individuals who have lost functional abilities due to illness, injury, or disease
"The Associate of Applied Science degree program in Occupational Therapy Assistant will give prospective students the opportunity to earn a degree in a program that is not only highly rewarding, but also is a career that will allow our students to seek employment opportunities in many different medical facilities," stated Brown Mackie College - Merrillville President, Sheryl Elston.
Students will have the opportunity to develop a solid foundation in the areas of rehabilitation, geriatrics, pediatrics, and mental health. The curriculum provides a good base in foundation of occupational therapy as well as functional anatomy and use of media.
Brown Mackie College - Merrillville is planning to enroll its first students into the program in July 2008.
