(Louisville, KY — August 10, 2009) Brown Mackie College — Louisville is pleased to announce that it will host the First Annual Criminal Justice Olympics on Friday, September 25, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The event will take place at the school located at 3605 Fern Valley Road in Louisville. All Brown Mackie College schools as well as Law Enforcement Explorers, cadets, and all regional institutions that offer associate’s and bachelor’s degree programs in Criminal Justice are invited to compete and/or observe.
Participants will compete in a variety of events, including traffic stops, active shooter reenactments, search and seizure reenactments, a mock crime scene investigation, and a knowledge bowl. Participants will be judged based on execution of knowledge learned in the classroom and then applied in real-world settings. The day will conclude with a special dinner reception, where the day’s winners will be recognized. A regional criminal justice expert will serve as the keynote speaker. Brown Mackie College — Louisville will also host an onsite Career Fair throughout the day, with various law enforcement agencies providing basic information and employment applications.
Brown Mackie College — Louisville has received an outpouring of support from local law enforcement agencies that will provide demonstrations such as SWAT and K-9 training, just to name a few. These agencies also will judge the various student competitions. Participating agencies include the Shepherdsville Police Department, Bullitt County Sheriff’s Department, Louisville Metro Police Department, and Jeffersonville, Indiana Police Department.
