Brown Mackie College – Tucson has begun offering a new Associate of Applied Science degree program in Biomedical Equipment Technology. The program, which was introduced in response to the increasing demands of the health care industry, will prepare students to pursue a variety of positions in an industry that provides and maintains diagnostic, treatment, and life support equipment in the health and medical fields.
“We are delighted to offer this exceptional program as part of our curriculum,” said Holly Helscher, president of Brown Mackie College – Tucson. “The Biomedical Equipment Technology program is a great asset to our existing course offerings, and will be another reason for prospective students to choose Brown Mackie College – Tucson.”
While studying Biomedical Equipment Technology, students will learn solid state and digital electronics technology, coupled with several courses specific to the repair, maintenance, and calibration of equipment found in the health care field. Graduates of this program will be prepared to pursue entry-level employment opportunities in the health care setting where a wide variety of equipment is used daily in the diagnosis, care, and treatment of patients. The program requires 96 quarter credit hours and 1,244 contact hours.
