Brown Mackie College — Tucson is owned and operated by Education Management Corporation (EDMC), 210 Sixth Avenue, 33rd Floor, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15222. Acquired by EDMC in 2007, Brown Mackie College — Tucson is part of a nationwide network of schools that includes The Art Institutes, Argosy University, and South University.

The College was founded in 1972 as Chaparral College, a career college focusing on programs in secretarial sciences as well as accounting and marketing. In 1978, the College added a branch campus on North Oracle Road in northwest Tucson. In 1984, the College moved to its current location at 4585 E. Speedway Boulevard and consolidated the two campuses into a new facility.

In 1994, the College began awarding associate’s degrees. Then two years later, to meet a growing demand, the College began offering bachelor’s degrees.
