Brown Mackie College - Salina Offers New Allied Health Program

11/27/2006

(SALINA, Kan. - November 27, 2006) Brown Mackie College - Salina is now offering an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing degree. The program, approved by the Kansas Board of Nursing, will prepare students for the registered nurse licensing test.

The Associate of Applied Science in Nursing is a bi-level program. Students will complete the curriculum for the Practical Nursing certificate before continuing with additional lecture and clinical curriculum required for the Associate of Applied Science degree.

"The Associate of Applied Science in Nursing provides students with the principles and knowledge from the biological and behavioral sciences, general education as well as the science of nursing," stated Judy McClintock, president of Brown Mackie College - Salina.

Students will receive a solid foundation in the areas of medical-surgical nursing, pediatrics, obstetrics, geriatrics, and pharmacology, in preparation for Kansas Board of Nursing licensing. As a registered nurse, graduates have a variety of professional options available, including a career in a hospital or long term care facility.

Brown Mackie College - Salina enrolled the first students into the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing program in September. Students who are interested in the program should contact Campus Admissions at (800) 365-0433 or visit www.brownmackie.edu.
