KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Earnest Noel scored 20 points as Brown Mackie rallied in the second half for an 87-84 victory over Forest Park, Mo., Saturday in the Penn Valley Classic.
The victory was career No. 600 for Brown Mackie coach Francis Flax, who has coached 25 years in the junior college ranks and nine at the high school level.
Forest Park led 46-42 at intermission, but the Lions fought back. Leading 85-84 with time winding, Bryson Flax stole the ball and Robbie Lewis eventually was fouled with 14.8 seconds left. Lewis hit both free throws, making it 87-84.
Forest Park's Willie Nevelus shot a 3-pointer, but it fell short and Brown Mackie grabbed the rebound with 4 seconds left.
Kenon Lamb added 15 points while Lewis had 13 for Brown Mackie (6-4). Rashad May had 20 and Nevelus 19 for Forest Park (3-3).
Brown Mackie plays Johnson County on Wednesday at Banes Gymnasium on the campus of St. John's Military. The women's game starts at 5 p.m., and the men at about 7.
