HIGHLAND -- Earnest Noel led a balanced Brown Mackie attack with 22 points as the Lions defeated Highland 89-80 Tuesday night.
Noel was 9 of 16 from the field as Brown Mackie (2-2) won its second game in a row. Tyrone Sheppard and Jacob Jordan each scored 14, Kenon Lamb 13 and Bryson Flax 11. Brown Mackie, which led 32-26 at halftime, shot 45.7 percent from the field (32 of 70) -- 5 of 10 from 3-point range.
Highland (1-1) was led by DeWayne Wright's 22 points. Jewell Carter added 19 and Chris Combs 18. The Scotties shot 36.4 percent (24 of 66).
"The game got tight in the second half and we called time out," BMC coach Francis Flax said. "Our defense and rebounding really picked up after that. We were spreading the floor, going to the basket and dishing it off. We just played very well the second half.
"We were picking and choosing our 3-point attempts, too. Five out of 10 is pretty good."
Brown Mackie plays Labette at 4 p.m. Friday in the Barton Classic at Great Bend.
