Antonio Edwards: “I’m 21 and where I want to be.”

Thursday, July 22, 2010 — Miami

Antonio Edwards developed an interest in criminal justice early in life. “I have a passion for standing up for what’s right,” he said. As a senior in high school, he volunteered for an internship at the Miami-Dade County (Florida) Clerks Office, where he processed subpoenas and performed other clerical duties. Upon graduation, he joined the staff at the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office as a Legal Assistant. He studied criminal justice for a year at another college before becoming frustrated with large class sizes and a dull curriculum. Antonio then transferred to Brown Mackie College – Miami.

CCA President Harris Miller presented the award to Danner and Stanley for their outstanding academic and personal achievements.

Before Shaun Robinson enrolled in the Practical Nursing program at Brown Mackie College - South Bend in 2005, he was a journeyman of sorts. He worked as an EMT for two years, helped school children with disabilities at an elementary school, was employed at a Subway restaurant, and also in construction.
