(KANSAS CITY, KS — April 15, 2009) Brown Mackie College — Kansas City has launched a new Associate of Science in Veterinary Technology degree program that is designed to prepare students for a career in Veterinary Technology.
The Veterinary Technology program is designed to equip graduates with skills for the care of animals, laboratory testing, assisting in anesthesia and surgery, and office procedures. “The program also provides knowledge and skills to prepare students for entry-level employment as part of a veterinary health care team, and to provide ongoing care to all types of animals,” says Susan Naples, President, Brown Mackie College — Kansas City.
The curriculum includes classes in small and large animal medicine, laboratory & exotic animals, anesthesia & surgical assistance, veterinary imaging, pharmacology, and veterinary lab procedures. In addition, students will take general education courses that will assist in their professional development and ability to assume leadership roles in veterinary technology.
