Animation and Visual Effects Artists Show Off Their Talent
The Art Institutes International Minnesota, a design, media arts and culinary arts college located in downtown Minneapolis, is hosting its fourth annual BLOCKHEAD FESTIVAL, a showcase of student talent from the Media Arts & Animation and the Visual Effects & Motion Graphics degree programs. The event will take place on Thursday, September 3, 2009 from 5 pm – 6:30 pm at the Crown Theatre at Block E, located on 6th Hennepin in downtown Minneapolis. The event is open to the public and there is no charge for admission.
Current students and alumni from The Art Institutes International Minnesota were encouraged to submit their animation and visual effects work for this juried competition. Representatives from the local media art industries will judge all submissions. Prizes will be awarded for Best 3D Modeling/Rendering, Best Animation, Best Visual Effects, Best Motion Graphics, and Best Alumni Work.
The Blockhead Festival has grown in submissions and attendance each year and is becoming a premiere venue to showcase animation and visual effects work from emerging artists at The Art Institutes International Minnesota. This year’s festival is also beginning at the later evening time of 5 pm due to increased public interest.
