Antoine Brown discovered his passion for landscaping in high school. Inspired by his grandmother, who assigned him the chore of caring for the lawn at home, landscaping became Antoine’s hobby. When he began doing yard work for other families in the neighborhood, his hobby became a money making venture. His eye for beatifying lawns pleases his customers. Antoine says that providing his customers and community with full satisfaction is what sets him apart from others.
Antoine graduated from Brown Mackie College – Miami in 2007 and with an associate’s degree in Business Management. He is currently attending Brown Mackie College – Miami working towards a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, with plans to continue his studies in a master’s of Business Management program. Even now, while working full time and attending school as well as caring for his grandfather, he finds time in the art of landscaping on the weekends.
Antoine’s plans for the future include working in a human resources department of an established company so that he can hone the skills he learned at Brown Mackie College – Miami, and the skills he’ll need to establish his own landscaping business.
Antoine credits Deborah Hubbard, General Education Department Director, for bolstering his confidence and challenging him to think outside the box. She always made time for him, even when he just wanted to talk. She taught him that he could do anything with this advice: “If you want something bad enough, you have to work hard for it. It is not going to come to you.”
