(FORT WAYNE, Ind. - July 26, 2007) Brown Mackie College - Fort Wayne and the Fort Wayne Urban League have formed an exclusive relationship by opening a new satellite location, designed to assist GED graduates to continue their education at Brown Mackie College - Fort Wayne.
The new 1,500 square foot facility, located at 2135 Hanna Street in Fort Wayne, features four classrooms and two computer labs. Brown Mackie College - Fort Wayne and the Fort Wayne Urban League began discussions to provide educational services and programs to clients served by the Fort Wayne Urban League in early 2007. The Fort Wayne Urban League has enhanced its facilities to meet the overwhelming demand for its educational programs, which produce impressive employment outcomes and qualified workers for rapidly growing fields.
"Brown Mackie College - Fort Wayne offers exceptional programs that prepare students for opportunities in Fort Wayne's growing business, legal and heath care industries," says Jim Bishop, Dean of Academic Affairs. "The school fills an important niche, providing skilled workers to support current labor demands in our community. We are proud to be able to team up with the Fort Wayne Urban League to provide educational opportunities and services to an underserved population," says Bishop.
Fort Wayne Urban League CEO Jonathon Ray adds, "We are excited about this opportunity to expand upon the mission of the Urban League and provide area residents with higher education opportunities in a local and familiar setting."
The site will offer general education and transitional studies to provide students a foundation for success once they transition to the main Brown Mackie College campus.
To celebrate their new partnership, Brown Mackie College - Fort Wayne and the Fort Wayne Urban League will hold a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the campus' new location at 2135 Hanna Street on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at 2 pm. Fort Wayne Mayor Graham Richard and Councilman Glynn Hines are among several officials expected to attend the ceremony, along with Urban League board members and Brown Mackie College officials, including new school president James Powell.
Brown Mackie College - Fort Wayne offers associate's degrees and/or certificates in accounting, business, medical assisting, occupational therapy assisting, surgical technology, criminal justice, paralegal studies, and computer software technology that prepare students for entry-level positions in a competitive, rapidly-changing workplace.
Brown Mackie College - Fort Wayne recently announced the addition of three new bachelor's degree programs in Legal Studies, Criminal Justice, and Business Administration to its curricula. This expansion of academic programs includes the first bachelor's degrees being offered at Brown Mackie College school locations, which has traditionally offered associate's, diploma, and certificate degree programs.
