The Practical Nursing diploma program at Brown Mackie College – Findlay in Ohio combines classroom instruction and clinical experience in the areas of medical-surgical nursing, pediatrics, obstetrics, geriatrics, and pharmacology. Practical nursing education enables the student to acquire principles and knowledge from the biological and behavioral sciences as well as the science of nursing. It also prepares the student to pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for practical nursing. Upon completion of this program, the graduate is prepared for an entry-level nursing position in a hospital, nursing home, clinic, or other healthcare facility. Their job duties may include taking vital signs, administering medications, collecting samples for testing, and providing other basic care.The Practical Nursing diploma program offers you courses on:• The structure and function of the human body.• Instruction and laboratory practice in the principles of administering medications, the development of critical thinking skills, and dosage calculation.• How to treat various health problems, with a focus upon the role of the practical nurse as a member of the healthcare team in caring for patients.
