Brown Mackie College - Cincinnati Students Assist Iraq War Veteran in the Music Recording Studio

11/27/2006

(CINCINNATI - November 27, 2006) Students enrolled in Brown Mackie College - Cincinnati's Audio Video Production (AVP) program helped a recent Iraq War veteran record a song - and received valuable learning experience which was shared with a national audience.

In August 2006, Brown Mackie College - Cincinnati AVP instructor Jon Brennan recorded the song "A Traitor's Death" in the school's recording studio with Iraq war veteran Josh Hisle. In September, Josh performed the song with music legend and social activist Neil Young.

Brennan extended this relationship with Brown Mackie College - Cincinnati AVP students. On November 7, 2006, Josh Hisle was interviewed for CNN's 360 with Anderson Cooper program. The interview was videotaped by AVP instructor Brian Bowen, with help from Pat Brackage, an AVP program graduate and current student at The Art Institute of Ohio - Cincinnati. Videotaping continued during that evening's Multitrack Production class as Brennan directed students in a recording session of Josh's musical performance.

"This was a tremendous opportunity for our students," says Bill Simmons, AVP faculty at Brown Mackie College - Cincinnati. "To be involved in the audio and video production of a song, an interview and a performance that will be seen by hundreds of thousands - if not millions of people - is just the type of 'real world' experience that Brown Mackie College is proud to deliver to students."

The interview aired on CNN on November 14, and it is expected to be released internationally via the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
