Brown Mackie College ? Boise Launches Associate in Applied Science in Veterinary Technology Degree

(BOISE, ID. – February 24, 2009)   Brown Mackie College – Boise has launched a new Associate of Science in Veterinary Technology degree program that will prepare students for a career in Veterinary Technology.  The program requires 96 quarter credit hours and 1,406 contact hours.

The Veterinary Technology program is designed to equip graduates with skills for the care of animals, laboratory testing, assisting in anesthesia and surgery, and office procedures. “The program also provides knowledge and skills to prepare students for entry-level employment as part of a veterinary healthcare team, and provide ongoing care to all types of animals,” says Rick Murphree, President, Brown Mackie College – Boise.

The curriculum includes classes in small and large animal medicine, laboratory & exotic animals, anesthesia & surgical assistance, veterinary imaging, pharmacology, and veterinary lab procedures. In addition, students will take general education courses that will assist in their professional development and ability to assume leadership roles in veterinary technology.
