The Database Technology degree program at Brown Mackie College – Akron in Ohio is an associate’s degree program that prepares you to assist in the design and implementation of a database. Courses in general education, business, and technology aim to produce a well-rounded graduate capable of contributing and advancing in a technology-enabled business environment.As a graduate of the Database Technology program in Akron, you may be prepared to seek employment in entry-level positions such as database analyst, database programmer, or database developer. Those working within the field of database administration are responsible for using database management systems to effectively store, organize, and extract data for an organization.This Database Technology degree program offers you courses on:• The theory of database design and function, including database architecture, data modeling, normalization, queries, security, and Web applications for databases.• The use of database management software to create and enter data and produce reports. The student learns the basic functions of a relational database management system: creating and modifying a database; printing reports; and selecting records based on specific criteria.• The fundamental concepts of procedural and digital data security. Topics include disaster recovery, performing backup and restoring data, creating and maintaining user accounts and security roles.
